Acupuncture & Chinese Herbs

Acupuncture has evolved over thousands of years, and is one of the oldest continually practiced medical modalities in the world. It is a safe, effective, and chemical-free way to promote the body's remarkable self-healing abilities. It is used to prevent and treat disease, relieve pain, balance mood, and improve overall health.  Treatments include any combination of acupuncture, cupping, moxa, or tuina.  Herbal consultations are available and considered part of treatment, but the herbal medicine itself requires an additional fee.

Fertility Support

Acupuncture helps improve the function of the ovaries to produce better quality eggs. It regulates hormones to produce larger numbers of follicles.  It increases blood flow to the Uterus and Ovaries, thereby increasing both ovarian sensitivity to gonadtropins and the uterine lining for implantation.  Acupuncture also relaxes the patient to induce a parasympathetic nervous system dominance.  Fertility treatments are often used in conjunction with herbal supplements and nutritional support.

Additional Modalities

Moxa

Moxibustion involves the heating of acupuncture points with smoldering mugwort herb (better known as moxa).  Moxibustion stimulates circulation, counteracts cold and dampness in the body, and promotes the smooth flow of blood and qi (vital energy). This safe, non-invasive technique may be used alone, but it is generally used in conjunction with acupuncture.

Cupping

“Fire cupping," is an ancient technique, used in many cultures, in which a special cup is applied to the skin and held in place by suction.  Heat is used to create a vacuum-like suction inside of the glass cups.  Once suction is achieved, superficial tissue is drawn up into the cup, which may either be left in place or moved along the body.  Cupping brings fresh blood to the area and helps improve circulation.

Gua Sha

Gua Sha meaning "scraping sha."  It is a Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment in which the skin is scraped to produce light bruising.  This therapy releases unhealthy elements from injured areas and stimulates blood flow and healing.

Tui na

Tui na means "pushing grasping," and is a powerful form of Chinese medical bodywork.  Based on the same Oriental medical principles as acupuncture, tui na seeks to improve the flow of qi through the meridian channels.  Tui na is particularly effective for conditions involving muscles, tendons and joints, such as structural misalignment, orthopedic problems and sports injuries.  Bodywork or massage are incorporated into treatments (if deemed appropriate) to aide in the release of soft tissue

Acupressure/Tuning Fork Therapy

Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the fingers to gradually press key healing points, which stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities.  Acupuncture and Acupressure uses the same pressure points and meridians, but Acupuncture employs needles, while Acupressure uses gentle to firm finger pressure. When these acupressure points are stimulated, they release muscular tension, promote circulation of blood, and enhance the body's life force energy to aid healing.

Tuning Fork Sound Therapy is a form of Vibrational Medicine. Tuning forks are precise instruments that have the ability to change our inner tuning by creating a resonance throughout our mind, emotions, and body. They do this by creating a vortex of sound that leads us into stillpoint, which is a moment where everything seems to stop and we can retune ourselves. Our nervous system, like the string of a musical instrument, vibrates to the sound of tuning forks.  This vibrational sound healing is used over acupuncture points for stimulation, similar to acupressure.

Aroma Acupoint Therapy TM
Aroma Acupoint Therapy (AAT) is an effective treatment modality that utilizes the lively nature of pure essential oils on acupuncture points. Acupuncture points have multiple functions therefore, pairing them with specific oils helps focus the therapeutic action of the point.  The placement of essential oils on specific acupoints on the body can then trigger energetic changes in the individual that will bring them back to a state of balance. Thus, resulting in a more significant clinical effect than using either of these treatment methods alone.
